The day time stopped was a Wednesday. It started as a Wednesday, but never ended. It simply didn’t exist in terms measured using names mainly derived from Norse gods. It had initially begun as a way of measuring the movements of bodies, for as many argued, time was only the measurement of the distance between two objects. The objects mostly measured by time were also bodies, but mainly of the human variety, and generally they were naked.

Gilbert had started Wednesday asleep, which is what many humans did when the Sun wasn’t available. The Sun was the direct source, and indirect cause, for life that existed on the planet Earth, and seeing as Gilbert resided on it, it directly caused him to exist, generally at a quarter past eight of any given morning of the working week.
